Grand Theft Auto publisher Take Two Interactive announced today that it has formed a Japanese publishing division. The new division will publish Rockstar and 2K Games titles in the domestic market.

Currently Take Two products are handled by a variety of third parties. Most famously, Capcom has served as publisher on the Grand Theft Auto series, one of the rare instances of a foreign franchise consistently topping the sales charts upon its release. Other publishers working with Take Two include Spike and most recently D3 Publisher for Bioshock 2.

Take Two Interactive's first Japanese publishing responsibilities will fall on Grand Theft Auto Episodes From Liberty City, a standalone disc that includes Grand Theft Auto IV's The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned download content. This disc's content is playable without the original GTAIV.
