Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition topped the Media Create software sales chart for the week covering February 15 through February 21. The updated version of RE5, known here as Alternative Edition, sold 143,000 in its first week.

Although set for international release on both PS3 and Xbox 360, domestically, RE5 Gold Edition is PlayStation 3 only. The added content for Gold Edition is being made available here in download form for both 360 and PS3 owners.

RE managed to at long last push God Eater out of the top spot. Namco Bandai's Monster Hunter-like PSP title took second with 64,000 units, bringing it close to the 500,000 units shipment that Namco Bandai announced yesterday.

Also new this week, Heavy Rain for PS3, in 6th place with 27,000 units, and Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's World Championship 2010 Reverse of Arcadia, in 8th place with 24,000 units.

New titles not placing in the top ten included Dante's Inferno (PS3) in 14th, Dynasty Warriors Online (PS3) in 17th, Nodame Cantabile Fun Music Time (NDS) in 24th, and Sangokushi DS 3 (DS) in 28th.

A couple of PSP games made surprisingly low first week appearances despite strong core gamer following. Classic Dungeon and Patchwork Heroes (aka Million Ton Bara Bara) placed respectively 26th and 29th. Both titles were released simultaneously as PSN downloads, although, as always, it's unknown how many digital copies were sold.
