Hideo Kojima Talks up Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker on Twitter

Conveying the fun of new PSP title is difficult through video, says director.

Hideo Kojima has been absent from the Kojima Productions official blog of late. Instead, his interests seem to have shifted over to Twitter. Yes, the same Twitter where Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada has been making quite the splash with his now 13,000 followers.

Kojima's Twitter account had just under 2,000 followers at the time of this writing. But that number could end up rising some, because Kojima has started talking up Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. (Thanks to johntv for the notice!)

In one Tweet, Kojima writes: "It's difficult to show the interest and freshness of PW through video. Cameron's Avatar was a huge hit because of the 3D video. That can't be communicated through text and a trailer. It's something you won't understand unless you experience it for yourself in the theater."

In a later tweet, he writes, "It's not that PSP is the main platform for the future MGS series. PW is a test to see what type of expansions are there if MGS is brought to a portable. We're not just rising vertically with development on next generation systems, but also horizontally, trying to expand gameplay."

It's unclear if this is a response to the recent controversy surrounding Kojima Productions' original consideration of putting a "5" in the Peace Walker name. This was revealed earlier in the week at the Kojima Production's blog by Peace Walker PR manager Jiro Oishi.
