Square Enix Announces Dragon Quest IX International Announcement In Japan
In case you haven't heard, Nintendo is doing the honors overseas.
Square Enix usually doesn't notify the local media when a game that's already out in Japan sees release in another country. Of course, Dragon Quest IX is no ordinary game, and so Square Enix was sure to issue a press statement about the game's recent confirmation for overseas release.
As first detailed at a recent Nintendo press conference in America, Dragon Quest IX will see release in North America, Europe and Australia this Summer. The game's formal English name is Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Skies, which is more or less a direct translation of the Japanese name.
Nintendo will serve as publisher on the game outside of Japan.
In its statement today, Square Enix said that it hopes to offer the world of Dragon Quest to even more players throughout the world. Domestically, DQIX, released July 11, 2009, has sold 4.15 million units, making it the best selling DQ game of all time. The series as a whole has shipped 53 million copies worldwide.
