Hold PSP Vertically For New Shooter

Riz shared details today on a new PSP download title that mixes shooting with strategy. Titled "Advance! Protect! Fight!," the new game will be available for download in April at the low price of ¥500.

In Advance! Protect! Fight! (APF), you create and send ships out to attack incoming enemies. Defeat all the enemies, and you clear the stage.

The strategy comes in determining what type of ship to send out, as you have access to a variety of types, each with different attack properties. You also have to take account of your resources. You can create and send out up to eighty ships at a time, but to manufacture the ships, you need to destroy enemy ships and collect their scraps.

You hold your PSP vertically to play. The analogue stick moves a cursor around, with R acting as a confirmation button. The control system is meant to replicate a mouse.

Modes of play include Arcade Mode and War Mode. Arcade Mode includes 26 stages, spanning five levels of difficulty. You unlock the higher difficulty stages by beating the easier ones. You'll gain access to War Mode only after clearing Arcade Mode.
