This Was Spike's Mystery Yoge
Publisher localizing Metro 2033, with options for dubs or subs.
A couple of weeks back, Spike shared the results of a survey which showed what Japanese gamers feel about the hot localization issue of subtitling versions dubbing. This was actually part of the build up for a new localization announcement from the company.
That announcement came late last week. Spike will be doing the Japanese honors on Metro 2033, an overseas first person shooter from THQ and developer 4A Games. The title will see Xbox 360 release here on May 13, priced at ¥7,770.
Metro 2033 is based off a story of Russian author Dmitriy Glukhovsky and puts players in the role of Artem following a nuclear war. You can read all about the game at your favorite Western games site. US-based players can look forward to a March 16 release.
Incidentally, it looks like Spike will be catering to both sides of the sub versus dub argument with this title. Metro 2033 will offer both Japanese voices and English voices with Japanese subtitles.
