Yakuza 4's Skill System VS High Res Pics of Mari Yaguchi

Take your pick of your Yakuza 4 coverage today!

Just one more update before Yakuza 4 sees release tomorrow. Of course, some of you already have the game, so feel free to skip on down to the full res pics of digital Mari Yaguchi below.

Like past entries in the series, Yakuza 4 lets you build up your character (or characters in this case) using an RPG-like level-up system. Clear sub stories and defeat enemies, and you earn experience. Earn enough experience, and you rise in level.

In addition to added HP, a level up earns you "Skill Souls." Select "Ability" from the pause menu, and you're taken to a screen where you can distribute these Skill Souls across various skills, ranging from heat actions to heat gauge increases and evasion moves.

Here we see Akiyama earn his Double Finish Kick by trading in two souls:

Some skills require that you have other skills mastered before they can be unlocked. Akiyama's Triple Finish Kick and Reversal Sliding are examples. These two skills are grayed out to indicate that you can't learn them. As detailed in the below screens, Triple Finish Kick requires that you first learn Double Finish Kick. Reversal Sliding requires that you learn a down evasion move.

Skill screenshots shared today show some of Akiyama's skills, including his Guard Rail Crush, Pole Crush, Double Finish Kick, Triple Finish Kick, and Reversal Sliding (those are all the ones without kanji -- yes, I'm cheating). All four heroes have their own unique skills.

Finally, and I'm not sure what this has to do with building up your character, but Sega sent out some super duper high res screens of Mari Yaguchi in Yakuza 4 form. You'll recall that the former Morning Musume star plays a sexy massage therapist. Click away!
