Hey look, it's Final Fantasy IX's title screen... on PSP!

A tease to hold you over for the full PSN release.

Here's our first screen of Final Fantasy IX (officially) running on PSP:

The Square Enix Members Twitter was updated with this image late last week.

The corresponding Tweet, as always from Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto, said that development has started on the game, although there's still a ways to go before completion.

All this talk about "development" may make you think otherwise, but the version of FFiX in question here is just a Game Archives release -- that is, the original PlayStation version running under emulation. Based off the various Tweets Hashimoto has posted, there seems to be a bit of technical tinkering that goes into preparing games for release on the service. Hashimoto's previous Tweets have indicated that Sony is the one who does this work.

Square Enix has yet to officially acknowledge FFIX's PSN release outside of Twitter. There's no word yet on pricing or release date.
