PlayStation 3 Tops Five Million
Sony reaches sales mark three and a half years after system's launch.
PlayStation 3 has topped the five million mark in domestic sales, Famitsu.com reported today citing data from parent company Enterbrain.
As of April 11, the last day of Enterbrain's latest weekly tracking period, the system had accumulated 5,001,598 total sales. This total comes around three and a half years after the system's November 11, 2006 launch and a little over two years after Wii crossed the mark.
Enterbrain also listed the top selling games for the system. Not surprisingly, Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix) tops the list, with 1,883,828 units sold since its December release. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Konami) comes in at second, with 706,461 units. Yakuza 4 (Sega), released just three weeks back and still placing in the top ten in weekly sales, comes in at third, with 526,093 units.
