Gears of War 3 Gets Worldwide Release
Highly anticipated TPS sequel hits arrives throughout the world in April 2011.
Microsoft's announcement of Gears of War 3 came in America from series design director Cliff Blezinski, who shared first footage of the game on a late night talk show. Following that appearance, Microsoft's various regional divisions made announcements of their own.
For Japan, the big news is not that Gears of War 3 is being released, but that it's being released simultaneously with the rest of the world. The Japanese date is April 7. While the North American date is April 5 and the European date is April 8, differences in shipping and in-store dating systems make this a true worldwide simultaneous launch.
Gears of War 2 took a slightly different path. Released overseas for holiday season 2008, Microsoft did not immediately announce the game for Japanese release. In the end, Japanese players had to wait over half a year for the game to see Japanese release in July 2009.
Joining the handful of screenshots and mockup boxart, Microsoft opened an overseas official site for the game today. Visit the site for the "Ashes to Ashes" game trailer that debuted on television.
Microsoft also announced the impending availability of avatar clothing featuring GoW3's new COG Armor. This DLC, meant to commemorate GoW3's announcement, will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace on April 20.
