Super Huge Update at the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Official Site
Commercials, support features, details on the bonus DVD, and guess who Iwata asks about the game?
Nintendo gave the Super Mario Galaxy 2 official site its biggest update yet today, with commercials, movies, gameplay details and more!
Visit the commercial page to see some television spots. There are five spots, of which I believe two are new. In typical Nintendo fashion, these two feature celebrities playing the game, in this Masaki Aiba and Kazunari Ninomiya who I believe are from pop group Arashi, but I can't really tell because they all look the same (err... boy band members that is)!
The site also has a section detailing that darn beginners DVD that Nintendo is including with the game. There are two video clips: Moving Mario and How to Progress. These are two of the sections from the DVD. The DVD also has some super play footage, although there are no videos at the official site showing this.
Nintendo also added a lengthy introductory video to the site. This shows all there is to know about the game and is a must see if you aren't hyped up yet.
The ???? area of the site was at last revealed today to be a section detailing support feature that help you out as you play the game.
These support features include:
2 player cooperative play
The second player can do all sorts of neato things:
- Collect star pieces by pointing at them, then press B to blast the pieces out.
- Point at an enemy and press A to freeze it. Shake the Wiimote to perform a spin attack.
- Collect distant items by pointing at the item and pressing A
- Make obstacles freeze and begin moving again via A and the spin attack
Hint Television
This monitor that you encounter in the stages shows videos of how to progress and perform special actions.
Helper Witch
In some galaxies, if you lose a turn a number of times, a witch will appear in the course and automatically control Mario through the end of the stage. The Power Star that you get at the end of the stage when using this feature becomes a "Bronze Star" and can't be used for getting all the game's stars. However, you can retry the stage to get the normal Power Star.
Finally, the biggest update of all: an Iwata Asks column. In the hot seat opposite the CEO is none-other-than Mario creator himself Shigeru Miyamoto. If you've got the Japanese skillz, or don't mind using a translation program, give the feature a look-over.
