Idol Master Arcade Version Going Black

Namco Bandai ending online service for arcade original this Fall.

Idol Master Live For You on Xbox 360. Namco Bandai has yet to announce a platform for the next entry in the series.

Namco Bandai Games announced today that it will be ending network service for the arcade version of Idol Master on September 1 at 1:59AM (that's late night on August 31).

The arcade idol sim which has spawned followups and spinoffs on Xbox 360, DS and PSP, was originally released on July 26, 2005. Players could go online for online audition battles, rankings and other features.

Following the end of online service, all Idol Master arcade machines will support offline modes of play only. Namco Bandai will also be ending a number of other services related to the game's mobile site and competitive aspects. See the Idol Master official site for details.

Virtual producers shouldn't worry too much about these moves. Namco Bandai is scheduled to announce the next entry in the series at a July event. Perhaps we can expect an arcade release for this sequel?
