First Look: K-On PSP
Sega brings the popular anime to PSP as a rhythm game.
Sega's full game plan for the K-On! anime came to light earlier in the week. Now, you can get your first look thanks to these newly released screens.
Fully titled, roughly translated from Japanese, K-On! After School Live!!, this PSP title is a video game adaptation of the K-On! anime. The anime, and the manga off which it's based, tells the story of a group of girls who take part in a music club at their high school.
While the anime is now in its second season, the game adaptation is based off the first season. Fans can look forward to Yui on lead guitar, Mio on bass, Tsumugi on keyboards, Azusa on rhythm guitar, and Ritsu on drums.
Sega promises simple rhythm gameplay. Notes flow across the screen on a bar, and you have to tap buttons with good timing. As you create combos, you build up a tension gauge which, when filled, makes the girls do some special actions. The game can be played in groups of five via ad-hoc.
Of particular concern for any rhythm game is the track list. Sega has thus far said that the anime's opening theme "Cagayake! Girls" and ending theme "Don't Say 'Lazy'" will be included.
K-On! AFter School Live!! will be released on PSP this Fall. For a closer look, visit the newly opened official site.
