Capcom Reviving Breath of Fire Art Book

Hold off on that Dance of Joy until you've read the headline in its entirety!

Capcom isn't resurrecting Breath of Fire. Not yet at least.

But they are resurrecting the game's official art book.

The "Breath of Fire Official Complete Works Resize" book is a reprinting of 2005's "Breath of Fire Complete Works" book. It's called "Resize" because it's been shrunk down to A5 size. This, Capcom says, has allowed the book to be released at ¥1,600.

The book includes 192 pages of Breath of Fire artwork, covering the series' 1995 debut title straight through 2005's Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter. You'll find rough sketches for the characters and monsters along with development secrets... which I presume aren't really a secret anymore since the book was first released in 2005.

So why is Capcom releasing a Breath of Fire art book all of a sudden? You probably shouldn't take this to suggest that a Breath of Fire revival is in the planning. The cover slip for the book notes that Breath of Fire was one of the early works of Last Ranker character designer Tatsuya Yoshikawa. This may just be part of the promotions for the upcoming PSP RPG.
