Sakaguchi's "Last Game" Post Officially Translated
The man with the mustache translates his controversial post.
Last week, a post by Hironobu Sakaguchi at the Mistwalker corporate blog got gamers buzzing as the Final Fantasy creator seemed to be suggesting that upcoming Wii RPG The Last Story could be his final game.
Sakaguchi has since provided his own English translation of the post. You can read it for yourself directly at the blog, but here's the relevant bit about The Last Story:
The energy poured into this project by the development team and I are 120%. I’m hoping you can understand that, however on the other hand, I feel worried and nervous like sending my child on a trip alone. Emotionally it feels like this is my last work, while pouring everything I have gotten into this project. Never regret, but now "I’m enjoying"; furthermore, aiming towards completion. The sense of “This is it” relaxes my shoulders, its pleasant feeling to conduct an orchestra by the sense of my intuition.
While the English translation is a bit confusing at some points, the part about The Last Story being his last game does seem to be clearly figurative. That is to say, Sakaguchi is not really thinking about calling it quits after The Last Story, but he is putting his all strength into the game as if it were his last game.
We'd expect no less, Gooch!
