Cave Festival: Blog of Semi Liveness
The latest shooting game developments, straight from Akihabara.
Cave is holding its latest "Cave Festival" fan event in Akihabara today from 10:00 to 18:00. The event will offer rare goods sales, live shmup play from master players, and playable debuts for games like iPhone DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu and Xbox 360 Guwange. Cave will also be making a number of new announcements during a live recording session of Famitsu's Midnight Live 360 Live webcast.
Your Andriasang.com special agent Alexander "Master of Unlocking" Aniel has been dispatched to the Tokyo electronics and anime porn capital to see what kind of transpirings are transpiring. This story will be updated periodically with his findings.

16:14 - The announcements have come to an end, so I'm closing off the "live blog."
Check back later for further coverage!
Just to recap, the big announcements were:
Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi Pork are coming to Xbox 360 in a single retail release planned for Spring 2011. The games will not have high res visuals, but will have new modes.
Feveron coming to an unannounced platform. It was not revealed if the game will be retail or download.
DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu Version 1.5 is coming to Xbox 360 for retail release on 11/25 at ¥6,800 in standard form and ¥8,800 in limited edition. Cave Festival attendees get a DLC card that ups the game to the Version 1.51 arcade version that was on display at the event. The 360 version has two arranged modes.
Guwange, announced for Xbox Live Arcade earlier this year, is set for September or October release. They showed a live play demonstration at the event.
Milestone reps came out and introduced the Xbox 360 version of Radilgy Noah, Radilgy Noah Massive. Set for 10/28 retail release. The 360 version has Classic Mode, Massive Mode and Death Modes. Massive Mode is a time attack mode where you play through two minutes and aim for the highest score. There's a boss at the end, and by killing it off you can get a higher score.
16:11 - The games will have the same res as the originals -- no high res upgrade. However, they will have arranged modes.
16:10 - It's Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi Pork!
They're selling the two shooters as a set in a retail release.
The crowd went wild at this announcement.
16:08 - One more title, a new Xbox 360 game that's due for Spring 2011.
16:08 - Ah, it looks like the game is actually running on a PC now, which is why they were using the 360 controller.
16:07 - They also wouldn't say if it will be download or package.
There's a "Developed by M2" at the bottom of the screen.
16:05 - Next, another announcement: Feveron.
They said they'd not be able to announce the platform, although when playing it live, they were holding Xbox 360 controlers.
16:04 - Release set for 11/25, priced 6,800 for standard and 8,800 for limited edition which includes special package and arrange CD.
Attendees at the Cave Festival get a DLC card that ups the game to the special Cave Festival Version 1.51.
16:01 - The game has two arranged modes, A and B. They didn't say what the difference is.
15:57 - Next announcement: DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu Ver 1.5 set for xbox 360!
15:52 - What the!? Guwange lets you display five separate windows. I didn't get the reason, though.
A release is planned for September or October.
15:50 - Next, an introduction to Cave's own Gunwange, which was playable on the show floor.
15:48 - Release for Radilgy set for set for 10/28. Unfortunately, they were having some technical difficulties so they couldn't show more of the game.
15:46 - The 360 version adds Classic Mode, Massive Mode and Death Modes. Massive Mode is a time attack mode where you play through two minutes and aim for the highest score. There's a boss at the end, and by killing it off you can get a higher score.
15:44 - Asada (Cave head of development Makoto Asada) first introduced Mr. Matsuoka from Milestone, who formerly announce Radilgy Noah Massive, an Xbox 360 version of Radilgy Noah which appeared previously on Wii and in arcades. Matsuoka then showed Xbox 360 gameplay footage.
15:32 - They've started the live broadcast.
I'll be posting updates when something gets announced and when Alex sends me images.
15:24 - Here's a Ustream version of the Famitsu broadcast.
15:23 - They're showing stuff on the screen now, including a recap of a previously Midnight Live 360 recording.
14:53 - People await the start of the Midnight Live 360 Live recording:
14:51 - Uhh....
Am I reading this wrong, or does this sign say they're selling Windia's "extremely dark urine" for ¥300 a bottle?
14:44 - Welcome to "Fear: Ca-ca-ca Cave Mansion."
14:41 - DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu iPhone and... uhh... special super sensory triangle hats?
