PS3 Yakuza Character Four is Ryuji Goda
The dragon of Osaka appears in the next console Yakuza game as a playable character.
The cast of the new PS3 Yakuza game got its fourth addition today. According to an early reveal at Famitsu.com, Ryuji Goda will be joining the cast that currently includes Goro Majima, Kiryu Kazuma and Shun Akiyama.
Ryuji originates from Yakuza 2, where he appeared as an Osaka rival to series main character Kiryu. Like Kiryu, he has a dragon on his back.
Similar to previous reveals, Sega shared a single piece of artwork of Ryuji. Unlike the other three characters, however, the new artwork does not show Ryuji wielding a gun.
Series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi shared some comments about the new character addition. "The fourth main character for the next Yakuza game is Ryuji Goda, in his first appearance since Yakuza 2. There has been much demand for his reappearance. This character, who was born as a rival character who gives off a powerful aura, is at last appearing as a main character. Of course, the manly, brawny appeal of Ryuji will be in place. We'll also be telling an after story for Yakuza 2."
Of particular note in Nagoshi's comment is the statement about depicting the events following Yakuza 2. This is one of the few content hints we've heard about the new Yakuza game since its announcement.
