Square Enix Revives Battle Tracks Music Compilation Line

All the battle music you could want... well, four years worth at least.

Square Enix briefly toyed with the idea of releasing a music compilation consisting of nothing but battle-style music, resulting in the Battle Tracks Vol.1 soundtrack back in May 2007.

Now over three years later, the series is at last seeing Vol.2 and Vol.3 Square Enix announced the new compilations on Friday. Battle Tracks Vol.2 and Battle Tracks Vol.3 will be released simultaneously on September 15, priced ¥2,100 each.

The sixteen track Vol.2 covers 1996 through 1998 and includes music from Final Fantasy VII, SaGa Frontier, Xenogears, and even non RPGs Parasite Eve and Chocobo no Fushigi na Dungeon, and even totally non RPGs like Tobal and Einhander.

The thirteen track Vol.3 covers 1999 through 2000 and includes a similar mix, with such titles as Final Fantasy VIII, SaGa Frontier, Final Fantasy IX, Vagrant Story, Racing Lagoon, and iS Internal Section.

Visit the Battle Tracks special section of the company's music site for more. The site currently has a single track looping in the background, but Square Enix will presumably offer additional samples nearing release.
