Square Enix Lets Gamers Choose Subs or Dubs for Call of Duty
Dream option for Japanese players.
Square Enix is providing gamers with a dream option for the Japanese localized versions of Call of Duty Black Ops. The PS3 and Xbox 360 title will be available as separate subtitled and dubbed SKUs, the company announced today. Gamers will be able to buy based off their preference.
The subtitled version will arrive first on November 18. The dubbed version, featuring what Square Enix promises to be a major voice cast, will arrive a bit later, on December 16. Both versions will carry the same ¥7,980 price tag.
A post at the game's official blog noted that a survey of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 buyers found that 60% wanted English voices and Japanese subtitles while 40% wanted Japanese voices. Square Enix decided to release the two versions in order to please both groups.
