Final Fantasy XIV's open beta was suddenly postponed yesterday a day before it was scheduled to start. But the wait to play won't be too long, it seems.

Square Enix updated the beta tester site today with the following notice: "A critical issue where the client software for the open beta test would not respond on certain rare occasions has been addressed. As of now, we are in the final stages of preparation for the start of the Final Fantasy XIV Open Beta Test."

The page said to expect a new schedule to be announced at a "later date."

FFXIV's open beta was originally scheduled to begin today (9/1) at 11:00AM. The final PC version of the game is scheduled for release on September 30.

Update 22:18 - Square Enix quickly got around to setting an official start time for the beta. In Japan time, the beta will begin on 9/2 at 11:00AM. Check the the beta site for the start time in your own area.
