August was full of big hits, but the biggest hit came early in the prior month. Wii Party topped the charts in August with 370,000 sales. This was nearly equal to sales in its debut month, where it debuted in 2nd place.

As detailed today at Famitsu.com, the month's top ten chart was evenly split between Sony and Nintendo hardware. All the Sony games were new over the tracking period, while Nintendo had some older titles.

Here's the full Famitsu/Enterbrain chart covering July 26 through August 29. Release date and life to date sales are in parentheses.
