Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Demo Detailed

Is this the most complicated demo download process ever? You bet your poogies it is!

Capcom promotes Monster Hunter Portable 3rd at the Tokyo Game Show. At the event, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said he hopes to make the game an even bigger success than MHP2ndG, which has sold four million units and continues to place in the top 20.

Capcom has provided an update on the Monster Hunter Portable 3rd demo it first announced at the Tokyo Game Show.

As detailed during a stage show at last week's gaming event, the Monster Hunter Portable 3rd demo will be available on October 13. It will be downloadable through PlayStation Store, but only by those who have obtained a product code.

To get a product code, you'll need to be a member of the mobile Monster Hunter Club. Registration is free.

Members will be able to obtain up to two product codes. Each can be used to download one copy of the demo.

The product codes will be distributed from 9/29 through 11/30. They will be distributed gradually, so members will need to check the Monster Hunter Club portal to see when they'll get the code.

It should be noted that, despite this complex download process, Capcom hasn't said if it has some sort of method in place to prevent players from simply distributing the demo online to one-another. Capcom's press release detailing the demo made no mention of the demo being tied to a single PSP.

In terms of content, the demo will offer two quests and nine weapons. Both quests will be playable in either single player or multiplayer modes. When played solo, you'll get to have two Felynes accompany you, demonstrating one of the new features of 3rd. During two player play, each player will be able to have just one Felyne. Three and four player play will be Felyne-free.

The quests are original to the demo. Specific content will be announced later.

Capcom has also confirmed that the demo will stand on its own. You won't be able to carry anything over to the final version.

If you just can't wait to get your hands on some downloadable Monster Hunter Portable 3rd content, you can log on to PlayStation Store right now where you'll find a brand new custom theme available. Like past MHP3rd custom themes, this runs ¥100.
