One of Square Enix's first 3DS games will be a 3D take on a classic puzzler. The publisher announced today Tobidasu! Puzzle Bobble 3D, set for for 3DS release this Spring.

Puzzle Bobble 3D has the same basic premise as the 1994 Taito arcade classic. You line up three or more like-colored bubbles, which then disappear.

The 3DS version will feature "Gimmick Bubbles," which put the 3D space to use. It will also make use of the system's ability to show depth.

Regarding this latter area, it looks like one stage will make characters who were in the bubbles that you popped fall to the planet below.

As for the "Gimmick Bubble" system, Square Enix said to wait for a followup report.
