Cops Bust PSP File Sharer

Man from Aichi Prefecture shared games like Street Fighter Alpha and What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord?.

The ACCS duck continues the eternal swim against piracy.

The Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS) provided details yesterday on yet another piracy bust. This time, the offender was a 42-year-old man from Aichi Prefecture who police say used a file sharing software called "Share" to distribute PlayStation Portable games and other media.

Specific games mentioned in the allegations include Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Sony's What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord?. The man had shared a total of 1,600 files, mostly centered on movies and television programs.

Police searched the man's house on August 17 and seized six computers, one PSP and other items. The man admitted that he started using the Winny sharing software 7 years back, but switched to Share because it's more convenient and better preserves download speeds.

AACS notes that this is the first time someone has been arrested for uploading PSP software.
