Cave Readying Fist of the North Star Social Game

Team up with series characters in fight for survival.

Shoot 'em up master Cave announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with North Stars Pictures to develop games based off the Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) license. This deal has nothing to do with a Fist of the North Star bullet hell shooter, though. Cave plans developing a "mobile social game" around the license.

The placeholder name of the new game is "Hokuto no Ken: Seikimatsu Risshiden." The game's genre is "survival action game." Playing as a nameless kenpo warrior, players fight for survival in post nuclear apocalypse world, building up their name and teaming up with various Fist of the North Star characters for combat.

Cave has shared only vague details on the game at present. Players can look forward to social element through such things as "missions," "battles," "cooperative play," "competitive play" and "growth." Outside of "harsh battles," the game will have elements that can be enjoyed over a long period of play time.

Hokuto no Ken: Seikimatsu Risshiden is set to begin service in early 2011. Cave has opened a preliminary teaser site which promises a full opening for the 15th.
