This Week's Flying Get
More details on Level-5's 3DS lineup, coverage of The Last Story, and more in this week's early magazine leaks.
This week's Flying Get is inspired in part by this totally impossible screenshot:
Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton in the same world? If it's a surprise to you, were probably weren't keeping up with announcements from yesterday's Level-5 Vision press conference. For a recap, view the articles and headlines linked to from this topic page.
As always, this week's Flying Get article will provide summaries of all the information floating about from early magazine leaks. In general, the information hasn't been verified, so some of it may end up not being true.
(If you read last week's column, you'll know that many of the details claiming to be from Jump and Coro Coro ended up being fake. For this week's and beyond, we'll be making the effort to let you know if we're not entirely sure of the validity of something)
Check back throughout the day for updates!
A Few Time Travelers Details
Famitsu has a few additional detail on Time Travelers this week.
At Level-5 Vision, we met two characters, Mikoto and Skeleton. They seem to be at odds in their goals. Mikoto is a high school student who wants to save the world. Skeleton is a terrorist who wants to reset the world.
Neither of these is the main character, though. The main character is a a second year high school student who's head of the school's chemistry club.
Akihiro Hino VS Keiji Inafune
This week's Famitsu has a dialogue between Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino and Capcom development head Keiji "Donna Handan!?" Inafune. Here's a summary based off a partial transcript that was posted at one the flying get blogs.
Hino tells Inafune that in a sense Layton was born because of the Ace Attorney series. Layton was the result of Level-5 trying to emphasize the strong points of Ace Attorney will overcoming Ace Attorney's limitations.
Here's how Layton VS Ace Attorney first came to be. One day, Capcom CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto asked Inafune why Layton sells so well. Inafune suggested that they ask Hino directly, so they called Hino over to Capom's headquarters. Some time after this meeting, Hino approached Inafune with the suggestion of making Layton VS Ace Attorney.
Inafune initially though it would be impossible to make the project a reality. He flew down to Fukuoka to say no, but Hino convinced him otherwise. Inafune says he felt great appeal from Hino and wanted to work with him.
Ace Attorney designer Shu Takumi is intimately involved with the project, as he's heading up the scenario. But initially he was supposed to just supervise. Once he began working on it though, he got caught up.
Capcom wants to make Gyakuten Saiban/Ace Attorney 5, said Inafune. He believes that it could be effective to make Takumi work hard, as it could stimulate him
Hino said that it's probably okay to think of the game as an adventure game. He also said that he expects fans want scenes where Layton and Phoenix Wright challenge each other and also fight alongside one another. The game will fulfill these desires.
The main members of the teams that made Layton and Ace Attorney are working on the game, Hino also noted.
Regarding release time frame, Inafune would only say that he believes it will come out at a good time.
A few bits on Love Plus 3DS
Famitsu has an interview with Love Plus producer Akari Uchida. Uchida reveals that there are no plans to add new girls to Love Plus 3DS. Also, the stuff we saw in the Nintendo Conference reveal trailer was just a portion of the game. They're currently considering the game's specifics, and Uchida does not know when the game will see release.
More on Chunsoft's zombie farming game
Chunsoft took the safe route for their return to self publishing. The first game out of the studio's revived publishing arm will be Shiren the Wanderer 5.
Their second game promises just a bit more originality. CEO Koichi Nakamura said in a Famitsu interview at the time of Shiren 5's announcement that the studio was also working on a zombie-themed DS game. First details have leaked out from Famitsu.
In Zombie Daisuki, or Love Zombie, you take control of a group of farmers who were transformed into zombies after their village was attacked. You'll have to lead the zombie farmers in attacks on the city.
It appears that the zombies aren't attacking the city due to some sort of pent up rural rage. They just want to maintain and repair their farm. They're attacking the town in order to recover important items.
The game's genre is "strategy zombie action." As you clear stages of play, your zombie numbers will multiply. You'll also be able to power your zombies up by planting seeds on your farm which can apparently grow into things like clothes and pudding.
There will be multiplayer support for up to 4 players, complete with download play. The game will offer a competitive futsal-type game along with cooperative boss play.
Development is currently at 90%, with a release set for January.
Chunsoft's Zombie Game Has Farming Elements
It looks like Chunsoft's new DS zombie game Love Zombie may not be the kind of zombie game where you kill off masses of zombies, but the kind where you control masses of zombies with the stylus and build up your farm while also attacking the town.
I have to admit, I much prefer the latter much more.
No New Dissidia Details
I looked over Famitsu's coverage of Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy and couldn't find any new info over what was leaked out of Jump earlier in the week.
The magazine does have a nice collection of screenshots of Tifa, Cloud, Sephiroth and the likes. Cloud is shown fighting in his Third Form, which it was revealed earlier is his unaltered FFVII costume. All past characters will have a new third form added.
I believe I read this before somewhere, but Famitsu writes that Duodecim will have between 4 and 10 new character additions.

New Yuji Naka Game Coming Soon?
See the question mark? That's there because I'm not too sure about this one, so I'd suggest waiting for confirmation.
There are some reports going around about a new game on the way from Sonic and Nights creator Yuji Naka, to be published by Kadokawa Games Apparently, the new game is an action game that's set in the skies. Naka apparently says in an interview that if he'd stayed at Sega he would have made a NiGHTS sequel using the new game's specifications.
Love Zombie is Chunsoft's Zombie Game
Back when Chunsoft announced its return to publishing a couple of months back, CEO Koichi Nakamura said something about working on a zombie game. No one took him seriously.
Well he was serious. This week's Famitsu has a first look at Zombie Daisuke, a DS game from Chunsoft.
The name may translate to "Love Zombie" or "I Love Zombie." It really depends on the content. Details have yet to leak out.
You can read a summary of Nakamura's August interview here. He specifically said the new game would not be a sound novel, so we can rule that genre out.
The 3rd Birthday: Aya's New Costume
Famitsu has a first look at a new costume for Aya Brea in The 3rd Birthday. This one is a super short office skirt and glasses. Apparently, as Aya incurs damage, her stockings will be the first to go...
The magazine also has a close look at the Briefing Room area. Here, you have access to a Weapons Storage Room, the Overdive Room, and the Locker Room. You can make Aya change her clothes in the locker room.
Man... that is one short skirt!
SNK Brings Trouble Witches to Xbox 360
SNK Playmore's next Xbox Live Arcade shooter is Trouble Witches Neo!, a port of a horizontal scrolling shooter that appeared in arcades and on the PC. The 360 version looks like it's similar to the original, but it adds a new characters, Sakurako Kujo.
A release is set for Winter at 800 Microsoft Points.
In this week's Famitsu...
The table of contents from this week's Famitsu has leaked out. As expected, the magazine will be providing details on all the games from yesterday's Level-5 press conference.
Level-5 won't be the only 3DS coverage, though. The magazine is also delivering a long awaited followup report on Project Love Plus for 3DS!
Other coverage this week includes:
- Preview of The Last Story
- Preview of Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy
- Preview of The 3rd Birthday
- Preview of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd
- Preview of Tactics Ogre
- Interview with Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's new president regarding Sony's year end strategy
- Preview of Yakuza Of the End
- Preview of Cubic Ninja for 3DS
- Preview of Valkyria Chronicles 3
The Dissidia and The Last Story stuff will presumably be more expanded versions of what leaked out from Jump last week (these particular leaks were legit).
The magazine also has a couple of newcomers this week: "Zombie Daisuke" (Love Zombies) for DS and a PlayStation 3 adaptation of Haruhi Suzumiya called Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisou (Haruhi Suzumiya's Recollection). The Haruhi Suzumiya is also coming to PSP.
