Japan's Creators Are Watching These Games

Shinji Mikami, Yoshinori Kitase, Suda 51 and others tell us what games and technology have their attention.

The Last Guardian, 3DS and DmC were popular responses in Famitsu's creator survey.

This week's Famitsu has a feature asking 19 game creators to list the technology and games that currently have their attention. We already passed along Noritaka Funamizu's response (see this story). Here's what everyone else said as summed up at this blog. Many of the creators were also good enough to provide status updates on their upcoming projects.

Irem's Kazuma Kujo

Kujo has his eyes on Fantasy Life (Level-5) and PlayStation Move. Regarding the upcoming Disaster Report 4 (which has Move support), Kujo said that they're entering the final phase of development .

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono

Ono is interested in Journey (SCE/That Game Company), LittleBigPlanet 2 (SCE) and Diablo III (Blizzard). He said that Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition will be completed soon.

Capcom's Kazuhiro Tsuchiya

Tsuchiya, who's working away at Asura's Wrath, is watching Catherine (Atlus), Kinect & Move, and 3DS. For 3DS, he's particularly interested in the systems's beefed up wireless functionality. He's attracted to the adult oriented concept of Catherine.

Grasshopper Manufacturer's Suda 51

Suda has his eyes on Tokyo Jungle (SCE), Kinect and Shadows of the Damned (EA -- made by Grasshopper). He actually played Tokyo Jungle twice at the Tokyo Game Show Regarding Kinect, Suda said that Grasshopper will be announcing games for the device. He also said that in 2011 Grasshopper will be making and releasing lots of HD games.

Tecmo Koei's Hisashi Koinuma

Koinuma is looking forward to 3DS. Regarding Gundam Musou 3, he said the game is in the final tuning phase. Outside of Sengoku Musou Chronicle (3DS), there is also a new title that will be announced soon and will be released next year. Based off the summary of his comments at the blog, it's unclear if he's speaking about a 3DS game or a game for another platform.

Tecmo Koei's Yousuke Hayashi

The head of Team Ninja has his eyes on DmC (Capcom), Asura's Wrath (Capcom) and 3DS. Regarding Dead or Alive Dimensions, he would only say that fans should wait for a followup report.

Konami's Akari Uchida

The Love Plus producer is looking forward to The Last Guardian (SCE) and the third Narnia movie. Development on the 3DS Love Plus game has just started, so he can't share details on the game.

CyberConnect2's Hiroshi Matsuyama

The CEO of the Fukuoka developer is looking forward to El Shaddai, DmC and 3D in general. He was shocked when he saw the Tokyo Game Show trailer for DmC.

Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase

The super producer at Square Enix is looking forward to Deus Ex (Square Enix), Gran Turismo 5 (SCE) and The Last Guardian (SCE). He teased that a highly anticipated scene will make it into The 3rd Birthday. Hmm... what scene could be be talking about?

(By the way, I'm being sarcastic. I totally know what scene Kitase talking about.)

Square Enix's Yasushi Minagawa

The Tactics Ogre designer is keeping his eyes on StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Vanquish, Diablo III and The Last Guardian. He's currently working on the overseas version of Tactics Ogre.

Sega's Satoshi Sakai

The man in charge of Phantasy Star has his eyes on Call of Duty Black Ops (subtitled version, Square Enix) and Disaster Report 4 (Irem). He said he's working away at Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity and Phantasy Star Online 2.

Sega's Toshihiro Nagoshi

The Yakuza series creator said that he's interested in Sekai Camera.

Sora's Masahiro Sakurai

The Kirby and Smash Brothers guy has his eyes on AR Games (Nintendo, 3DS), El Shaddai (Ignition) and games for Smart Phones and Xbox Live Arcade. He's interested in the latter category because they increase exposure of games to more general audiences.

Tango's Shinji Mikami

The former Capcom superstar is interested in Angry Birds (Clickgamer), 3DS and "digital books." He apparently likes his books digital because he doesn't have to worry about carry them around.

Level-5's Akihiro Hino

The CEO has his eyes on Final Fantasy XIV, 3DS and SNS games. He said that he's working so that all of Level-5's future games will be million sellers.
