Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Has a Nico Nico Tieup

Nico Nico mascot characters to appear in upcoming PSP title.

Sega is teaming up with video sharing site Nico Nico Douga for a few Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity collaborations.

Announced on Friday, PSP2i players can look forward to a couple of Nico Nico themed room items in the new game.

To the left, Nico Nico mascot character Terebi-chan ("terebi" is how the Japanese say TV). To the right, Niwango, mascot character for Niwango, the company that operates Nico Nico. The character is a chicken due to a pun in the Niwango name (although I'm not sure which came first).

This is actually PSP2i's second Nico Nico Douga collaboration. The first was a design contest through which the Nico Nico community could design weapons, clothing and parts for the game. The contest ended yesterday night. Phantasy Star producer Satoshi Sakai and Niwango president Hiroyuki Nishimura will be selecting the top three submissions to be converted into actual items. Visit the contest site for some samples submissions from when Sega and Niwango held a similar contest for Phantasy Star Portable 2.

Sega and Niwango are planning third and fourth collaborations. These will be detailed later.
