Gran Turismo 5 Tops 5.5 Million Shipments
Series total crosses 60 million.
Gran Turismo 5 appears to be off to a fast start. Sony announced today that the racer has shipped 5.5 million units worldwide in the 12 days since its late November worldwide release (through Monday, 12/6).
Much of these sales appear to be outside of Japan. Media Create's latest charts show the Japanese version with 486,389 sales through 12/5.
Total shipments for the Gran Turismo series as a whole have crossed the 60 million mark, Sony also said. The first entry in the series was released on the PlayStation in 1997.
