No Final Fantasy Versus XIII at Jump

Tetsuya Nomura says to wait for January FNC Conference event.

He waits, until the January Fabula Nova Crystallis Conference.

Are you already camped outside the Makuhari Messe so that you can get into Jump Festa super early next Saturday and be the first to view the latest Final Fantasy Versus XIII footage? Well pack up and go home, because Versus XIII ain't gonna be there.

Tetsuya Nomura said so himself at The 3rd Birthday Twitter earlier today. There won't be an exhibit related to Fabula Nova Crystallis at the event, Nomura wrote. Square Enix is holding off on the franchise until the January Fabula Noval Crystallis Conference event.

Nomura said to expect some form of notice about the conference next week.

If you take Nomura's comments at face value, it looks like Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII are out for Jump. Of course, there is the possibility that some sneak footage will make it to the event. A couple of Tokyo Game Shows ago, Square Enix showed in-game test footage of Versus XIII even though Nomura had made comments in prior interviews suggesting that a showing for the game was unlikely.

Last year's Versus XIII Jump Festa showing took the form of a brief realtime clip played for those waiting in line to play Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. If there is a Versus or Agito showing this year, we expect to find it in or around the line for Birth by Sleep Final Mix, The 3rd Birthday and Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy, all of which will be playable at the event.
