First Look: Final Fantasy IV PSP

Square Enix formally announces PSP remake and lets players sample the game at Jump!

Word of a PSP version of Final Fantasy IV hit earlier this week through Weekly Shounen Jump. Square Enix provided a first look today:

They're not full res shots, but you should be able to see how the game's visuals have improved over the original.

As detailed in Jump, Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection combines Final Fantasy IV with Final Fantasy IV The After Years. FFIV was originally a Super Famicom game, of course. The After Years is a direct sequel that originated on cell phones and was later brought to WiiWare.

The two screens above come from Square Enix's Jump Festa page for the game. It looks like this was the mystery title Square Enix was teasing in its booth map, as it's appearing in playable form at the event.

The Jump Festa page says that FFIV Complete Collection has updated visuals, a new scenario that connects the original FFIV with The After Years, and a gallery mode. The last feature was not mentioned in the Jump reveal.

FFIV Complete Collection is due for PSP release this Spring.
