BlazBlue Continuum Shift II Set for PSP
First details on the portable version of the recent arcade fighter.
A console release for BlazBlue Continuum Shift II wouldn't make much sense, as the recent arcade title is basically just the home version of BlazBlue Continuum Shift with download content unlocked.
For PSP owners who've only had access to BlazBlue Portable, however, Continuum Shift II has quite a bit to offer. In this week's issue of Dengeki, Arc System Works announced a PSP conversion of CSII.
The PSP version of CSII, titled just "BlazBlue Continuum Shift II," will combine all the content of the arcade game with some new features. For BlazBlue Portable players, this means 6 new characters, for a total of 18 playable characters in all.
Modes of play include:
- Score Attack
The story mode will feature new stories written by producer Toshimichi Mori. Legion Mode will have new stages and gameplay systems. Gallery Mode will have newly drawn artwork, illustrations and more.
Abyss Mode is all new for the PSP title. Dengeki says that this new mode will be full of gameplay, but does not provide specifics. It speculates that it may be a dungeon RPG. A screenshot of this mode makes it look like Ragna is descending into the depths of an abyss. He's listed with a variety of parameters, so perhaps there's a growth component here.
Also of note is the game's wireless mode. This local ad-hoc play mode supports four players. Two players fight while two others watch.
In a brief interview with Dengeki, Mori said that the reason a portable system was selected for the game was to expose more players to BlazBlue. As the major elements for the game, he mentioned the new characters and the Abyss mode, but said that he hopes players most look forward to the Story Mode and its new scenarios. Details on these scenarios will come in subsequent issues of Dengeki.
BlazBlue Continuum Shift II is due for PSP release this Spring.
