Dragon Ball Kai's Battle System Detailed
Have a look at the paper-rock-scissors style combat
Namco Bandai shared details today on Dragon Ball Kai Ultimate Butouden's combat system.
Battles in this latest DS adaptation of Dragon Ball Kai take place on two planes, on the ground and in the air. You make use of three types of attacks: weak attacks, strong attacks and throws. These have a paper-rock-scissors relationship, with weak attack beating throw, throw beating strong attack, and strong attack beating weak attack.
As previously detailed, the game has a "neutral guard" system -- that is, your character will automatically block when you're not pressing any buttons. This works against only weak attacks, though. You can also press B to evade strong attacks and throws, but this won't work against weak attacks.
Outside of the standard attacks, you can perform special attacks by either inputting commands, or by tapping Dragon Ball icons on the touch screen.
Joining the battle details, Namco Bandai provided an image of the Drgaon Ball Kai first run bonus item. Buyers will get a limited Vegeta card for use with arcade card game Dragon Ball Heroes.
