Iwata Hints at 3D Video Recording for 3DS

CEO says it would be nice to add such a feature through a future firmware update.

Miyamoto poses for a 3DS photo session in the latest 3DS Iwata Asks column.

The 3DS is capable of taking 3D photographs thanks to its two external cameras. But still pics may be just the start.

In the latest installment of an ongoing series of Iwata Asks columns for the system, Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata made some comments that seem to suggest 3D video recording is on the way as well.

At one point in the dialogue session, Miyamoto said that Iwata is planning on making the system's 3D photo feature into a video feature. Iwata replied that it would be enjoyable if video functionality could be added to the system via a future version up.

Of course, this isn't confirmation that such a feature will ever make it into the system, but it does look like there's some sort of discussion going on at Nintendo.

As with the last 3DS Iwata Asks column, this one features Miyamoto, Iwata and Mother creator Shigesato Itoi. Over four pages, the three Nintendo VIPs speak about 3DS hardare development, Nintendogs, and more.

Nintendo will presumably be putting up an English translation here shortly.
