Square Enix Opens Teaser Sites for New Games
Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Type-0, and Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance go live.
Coinciding with announcements made at today's 1st Production Department Premier event (click here for a live blog of the event), Square Enix has opened teaser sites for many of its upcoming titles.
First up, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. This is the 3DS title that was formerly known as just Kingdom Hearts 3D. The teaser site lists the genre as RPG but does not have a release time frame. The text to the right of the logo says something along the lines of "Dark becomes light, light falls to dark."
Next up, Final Fantasy Reishiki. This is being widely reported in English as "Final Fantasy Type-0." Formerly known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII, this PSP title will see release this Summer as a two disc UMD game. Note that although the Agito has been removed from the title, this is still a Fabula Nova Crystallis series game (this is the name for the series that encompasses Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII), as its official site is in the Fabula domain.
Finally, Final Fantasy XIII-2 (pronounced, even in Japanese, "Thirteen-Two"), one of the big surprise announcements from the event. This direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII is in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with a release planned for 2011. The game's genre is listed as RPG. Text below the logo is an incomplete sentence that says something along the lines of, "The thing people gained by disobeying the gods is,".
The XIII-2 site will host today's event trailer on the 20th. Square Enix said that other trailers from the event will be available for viewing on the 27th.
You'll find further details on these games and other titles at our conference second hand live blog.
