Sega Teams with Mecha Designers For Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity

PSP title to have special equipment from Kunio Okawara and other famous designers.

 

Sega's latest Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity collaboration is even more delicious than the Colonel Sanders tie-up. Announced at today's "Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Fan Appreciation Festival Supported by Calorie Mate" event, Sega has drafted five famous Japanese illustrators and mech designers to design costumes and weapons for PSP2i.

Designs from Kunio Okawara, Kanetake Ebikawa, Junya Ishigaki, Suzuhito Yasuda and huke will be made available to PSP2i players as post release download content through PlayStation Store. The equipment can be equipped to all characters regardless of race or gender.

Kunio Okawara

The first person credited as a "mechanical designer," Okawara worked on Gundam and many other well-known series.

Kanetake Ebikawa

Worked on Gundam OO, Full Metal Panic and more. In comments today, Ebikawa said he's been a fan of Phantasy Star since Dreamcast's Phantasy Star Online.

Junya Ishigaki

Worked on such series as Brave Exkaiser, V Gundam, Macross F and more.

Suzuhito Yasuda

A manga artist, illustrator and designer who's known for such light novels as Durarara!! but has also done character designs on games such as Devil Survivor.

huke

Did some character design work on the Metal Gear Solid series, and has also worked on such properties as Steins; Gate and Black Rock Shooter.
