Date Set for Touch! Double Pen Sports
3DS sports game uses two touch pens to control the action.
Namco Bandai will release Touch! Double Pen Sports on June 2, Famitsu reveals this week. The 3DS sports collection will be priced ¥4,800.
Developed by Indies Zero, Touch! Double Pen Sports got some notice at its announcement last year because of its unique control setup. The game's seven events, which include such sports as baseball and boxing, require that you play using two touch pens.
The batting game, for instance, requires that you slide down with the left touch pen to pull back, then slide up with the right pen to swing. Depending on the length and speed of your slides, you can control the ball's distance.
The boxing game uses the two touch pens as individual hands. You can perform straight jabs, hooks and other attacks based off how you move the touch pens.
Outside of the various events, Touch! Double Pen Sports includes "Exercise Mode," a mode that polishes up your dual-handed stylus play and give syou a measure of your "touch sense." This mode has three types of games which promise to stimulate mental pathways that are normally not used.
The game will also have customization options for your characters. You'll be able to make arrangements to skin color, hair style, facial expressions and other areas.
With the emphasis on dual touch pen use, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Namco Bandai is bundling in an extra touch pen. Actually, they're bundling in two. The included touch pens are larger than normal.
