Samurai Warriors Chronicle Wireless Modes Detailed

Launch title to support Spot Pass and Street Pass. Plus, the latest on character growth.

Details on wireless play and character growth for Tecmo Koei's 3DS launch title.

Tecmo Koei's 3DS launch title Samurai Warriors Chronicle will be making use of the system's various wireless features. Famitsu has details this week on the game's Spot Pass and Street Pass support.

Spot Pass can be used to download new scenarios. Following launch, Tecmo Koei will be offering a variety of gaiden (side story)-like scenarios, meaning even if you've cleared the game you'll still find more to play.

Street Pass is used to create simulated battles with players you pass on the street. To take part in this mode, you'll need to set up a team of four battle members. You can also set a formation, a name for your main character, and select a weapon which will be given to your opponent.

There's apparently no demerit for taking part in the Street Pass battles. Even if you lose, both players receive the preselected weapon from their opponent. If you continue winning, however, you'll get bonus items. Also, those characters who take part in the virtual battles will see their favor for you increase. You'll be able to view the battle history of your virtual opponents, and can even save up to 50 of these to memory.

Famitsu also has details this week on the game's gallery mode. This gives you access to event scenes, movie scenes, background music and a look at the missions that you encountered in the main mode of play. You can also see your character growth history.

Joining this Famitsu-based update on the game's wireless support and gallery modes, Tecmo Koei has sent out screens of two other areas of the game: character growth and the general store.

Your characters have an experience parameter. As you clear missions, you'll build up this parameter and eventually level up. Leveling up gives your character added attack strength and life, and also adds additional attack varieties.

You can also power up your character by equipping weapons and equipment. These can increase your characters' various parameters. Weapons come in Normal, Speed and Power types, each with different effects on attack strength and speed. Equipment items can be equipped in initially just one area, but as you rise in level this will increase to five.

Equipment itself can be powered up by heading out to the general store. Here, you can have your weapons and equipment combined together to increase the item's level and add bonus abilities. You can also visit the general store to customize your character.
