Sony Teases New Oreshika Title

Classic Japan-only PlayStation RPG to see revival.

Sony opened a teaser site today for a new project surrounding classic PlayStation RPG "Ore no Shikabane wo Koeteyuke."

The teaser site has a song called Hana, apparently the project's theme song, and says "Oreshika Project Starts" ("Oreshika" is the short form of the game's name).

The page also lists details on a talk event that will take place on the 3rd in Tokyo's Yutenji area. This will feature game designer Shouji Masuda and author Yuri Mitsuhara. It's expected that more details will be announced there.

The original Oreshika was released to the PlayStation in 1999. Players attempt to rid their family of a curse that sees their members age 50 times faster than normal, which means they die by the age of two. The game combines RPG and strategy elements as you raise your family and head out to a labyrinth for battle. You can see a couple of videos here:

Masuda has been hinting at a sequel or remake to Oreshika since early 2010 via Twitter. The new teaser site presumably has something to do with the project Masuda has been teasing.
