Phantasy Star, Gundam and 3DS Top Sales Charts

Latest chart dominated by newcomer releases.

Visitors to Yodobashi Camera in Yokohama sample 3DS. The system topped the hardware charts this week, pretty much selling out of stock.

3DS invaded the Media Create sales charts this week, dominating hardware sales and taking up six slots in the software chart. But the real winners in software sales went to a couple of PSP sequels.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity topped the charts with 206,654 units in its first week. It just barely beat out SD Gundam G Generation's 192,981 units. The latter was also released on the Wii to 28,119 unit sales.

For 3DS, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Nintendogs + cats, Samurai Warriors Chronicle, Super Street Fighter IV, Ridge Racer 3D and Winning Eleven 3D made it into the top 20. The only launch titles to not place were Puzzle Bobble and Combat of the Dinosaurs.

The chart was filled with new releases following a February 24 flood of newcomers. Disgaea 4 placed 4th with 79,425 units. Idolmaster 2 placed 10th with 34,621 units. Both the PS3 and Wii versions of Rune Factory Oceans made it into the top 20, but the PS3 version came out on top.

Among the few returnees were Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, in 9th place with sales now topping the 4.3 million mark. PS3's Catherine fell from last week's first place debut to 17th with an additional 21,183 units.
