No April Fools' From Irem This Year

Publisher cancels this year's festivities.

Irem announced today that it won't be holding its usual April Fools' Day festivities this year. The company cited "various circumstances" for the cancelation.

Irem has become known for pulling some elaborate April Fools' Day pranks over the past decade. In the case of PSP title Doki Doki Suikoden, an old Irem April Fool's Day joke ended up becoming an actual game.

While the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami was not mentioned as reason for the cancelation, Irem was presumably hit harder than most publishers, as it cancelled what was to likely be its big game release this year, Disaster Report 4. Retailers have also reported that Doki Doki Suikoden will be delayed.
