Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Comes Home

Yun, Yang and other new features to be offered to home players as an update or package release. PC version also on the way.

Did you assume that Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono was lying when he said that there were no plans to update the home versions of Super Street Fighter IV to Arcade Edition spec? Well, you were right to be suspicious.

Arcade Edition is indeed coming home. Capcom announced today both retail and download content releases for the game. Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers will be able to buy a retail version in the Summer (the PC version is big news, as the original Super SFIV was not given a PC release). Current owners of PS3 and Xbox 360's Super SFIV will be able to update their game to Arcade Edition spec via download content.

The home version of Arcade Edition includes the four characters who were added for the arcade version: Yun, Yang, Oni and Evil Ryu. All four are being given fully animated prologues and endings just like their counterparts.

Capcom also says to expect Arcade Edition's balancing, and an updated Replay Channel. Among the new features for the Replay Channel are the following (listed with Capcom's official text):

Replay Follower
Be able to follow up to 5 separate player replays making it easier to find your favorite players’ latest replay.
My Channel Advanced
Allows players to distribute their replay data to up to 50 players.
Elite Channel
Watch replay data from elite players who have a rating of 3000PP or more.

The game will allow for versus fighting against players of the regular Super SFIV who've installed a free patch. Owners of the Arcade Edition update will be able to use the new characters, but those with the standard Super SFIV won't of course.

Look for the downloadable Arcade Edition update on June 7 at ¥1,500. The retail version is due out on June 30 in Japan.
