Massive Hatsune Miku Project Diva Controller Meets its Quota

Pricey PS3 controller to go into production, Hori says.

Hori has proven once again that hardcore game fans are willing to pay anything to make the play experience just a bit more authentic. As with the pricey Xbox 360 Twin Sticks, which cost about 30 times more than they game they were made for, Hori said today that it has received enough pre-orders for the pricey Hatsune Miku Project Diva controller to go into production. The cost to buyers: ¥29,939.

It may not look like it in the pics, but this PS3 controller is absolutely huge, measuring 690 (w) x 430 (d) x 70 (h) mm. It weighs 7 kilograms.

The controller is meant to replicate the experience of playing Hatsune Miku Project Diva Arcade when you play the two PSP Hatsune Miku games on your PS3 through the paid Dreamy Theater download content. Of course, it's just a standard controller, so you can use it for other games too, as detailed here.

Visit Hori's product page to order the controller. You'll get the giant package whenever Dreamy Theater 2 becomes available for download this summer.
