Nendoroid Generation Detailed

Namco Bandai converts Good Smile Company's figure line into a single player RPG.

This is a Nendoroid.

Namco Bandai's latest RPG is set in a school. Sounds familiar enough. But this isn't any old school-based RPG! The characters in Nendoroid Generation are Nendoroids, the popular figures from Good Smile Company. And the school they attend: Nendo High School, of course!

Nendoroid Generation features Nendoroid figure versions of characters from a number of franchises. Characters introduced in this week's Famitsu include:

  • Black Rock Shooter (Black Rock Shooter)
  • Dead Master (Black Rock Shooter)
  • Black Gold Saw (Black Rock Shooter)
  • Saber (Fate)
  • Rider (Fate)
  • Rin Tosaka (Fate)
  • Nanoha Takamachi (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha)
  • Fate Testarossa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha)
  • Haruhi Suzumiya (Haruhi Suzumiya)
  • Yuki Nagato (Haruhi Suzumiya)
  • Mikuru Asahina (Haruhi Suzumiya)

So just how much RPG is this really? It's not clear, but the game does have a bttle system. You can make the Nendoroids perform chain combos which vary based off your party. You can also get the Nendoroids to perform cooperative group attacks.

The game also includes some stuff just for fans of Nendoroids. You'll find a "Dance Mode" where the Nendoroids will dance around. You can also interact with the Nendoroids, selecting to pet them for instance.

These are also Nendoroids.

Famitsu interviewed Good Smile Company CEO Takanori Aki this week and learned that the game will actually be seeing far more characters than those listed above. The plan is to have one to three characters appear from 10+ titles.

In development as a 10th year anniversary project for Good Smile Company, Nendoroid Generation is currently 20% complete. Its release date and price are TBA.
