Final Fantasy XIII Gets Budget Re-Release

Xbox 360 and PS3 versions now both part of "Unlimited Hits" series.

Square Enix is readying budget versions of Final Fantasy XIII for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Due to some naming issues, this gets a bit confusing, so read closely.

The PlayStation 3 budget version will be called Ultimate Hits Final Fantasy XIII, making it part of Square Enix's long running Ultimate hits budget line. It will be priced ¥3,990.

The Xbox 360 budget version will be called Ultimate Hits International Final Fantasy XIII Platinum Collection. The original Xbox 360 version was already released as Ultimate Hits International Final Fantasy XIII. Platinum Collection is the name of Microsoft's budget line. This will be priced ¥3,990.

The original Xbox 360 version included a special booklet called Final Fantasy XIII Corridor of Memory. This will be included in the new Platinum Collection version, but only if you buy from Square Enix's e-Store. This bonus appears to be just for Xbox 360 buyers, as it's not included in the PS3 listing at the Square Enix e-Store.

Both budget releases are due on July 21.
