Reuters: Japanese PS Store Preparations Complete
Sony working to satisfy consumer protection demands from METI.
Retuers Japan has provided an update on Sony's progress with the Japanese side of PlayStation Store. The update fills in a few of the blanks from earlier reports.
According to the Reuters Japan report, preparations on the system side of the Japanese, Hong Kong and South Korean stores have been completed. However, final adjustments with the various regulating government bodies are not complete.
In Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) told Sony on the 27th that before they start payment based services, they must have in place facilities required to protect consumer security. Once Sony has made appropriate preparations in line with these demands, service in Japan will begin.
