The top rated game in Weekly Famitsu this week is Rockstar's L.A. Noire. The magazine's four person review crew scored the game 10, 10, 10 and 9, making it a near perfect score.
Famitsu's editors are not alone in their praise. Sister publication Famitsu Xbox 360 gave the game two 10s and two 9s in its latest issue.
Other reviews this week, as summed up at Sokuho @ Hokanko include:
Knights Contract (Namco Bandai, PS360)
Score: 7, 7, 8, 6. Clear time 10 hours, full play through 15 hours. Complaints include the poor camera which makes combat difficult, the rough transitions between battle and event scenes, and the unreasonably tough quick timer events during boss fights.
Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon (D3, PS360)
Score: 7, 7, 7, 7. Clear time 8 hours, full play through 30 hours plus. The game retains the series' enjoyment of blasting away at masses of enemies. Other praise included strong ally AI which makes play easy, and large variety of customization. Complaints included repetitiveness. The game has the same type of stage over and over.
Infamous 2 (Sony, PS3)
Score: 9, 9, 9, 8. Clear time 10 hours, full play through 30 hours plus.
Angel Love Online (Q Entertainment, PS3)
Score: 6, 6, 6, 5. Play during each log in can range from a few minutes to many hours. This is just a package version of a free-to-download game. You can download it yourself (once PSN comes back up...).
Angel Senki (Q Entertainment, PS3)
Score: 6, 6, 6, 5. Play during each log in can range from a few minutes to many hours. Same story as Angel Love Online.
Wii Remote Plus Variety Pack (Nintendo, Wii)
Score 8, 7, 7, 7. Play time depends on play style. The various mini games are simple but addictive. It may seem that having just 12 mini games is lacking, but for the price it's a value. Also, the mini games are original and unique.
Doctor Lautrec (Konami, 3DS)
Score 8, 8, 8, 8. Clear time 20 hours, full play through 30 hours plus. The game has good balance with puzzles, exploration and battle. With its action and battle elements, the game has a uniqueness over other puzzle solving type games. Complaints included little things like difficulties when retrying a dungeon.
Class of Heroes 3D (Acquire, 3DS)
Score 7, 8, 7, 7. Clear time 30 hours, full play through 70 hours plus. The basics of the series are carried over, but the game has been made overall more player friendly, allowing even beginners to enjoy themselves. Other praise included the higher tempo battles due to the inclusion of simple commands and the abundant character raising variation due to the ability to select sub subjects from the start. Complaints included various control issues and the repeated use of maps.
Haruhi Suzumiya Mahjong (Kadokawa, PSP)
Score 6, 6, 5, 6. Clear time 12 to 15 hours, full play through 40 hours plus. I don't write about mahjong games, even if they have Haruhi.
