New cover art was one of the new features Namco Bandai added to the 3DS version of Tales of the Abyss.

Backed by its first major RPG in Tales of the Abyss, 3DS grabbed the top spot in both hardware and software this week. PSP narrowly missed the top hardware spot (aided little by PSP go which apparently managed to sell just 7 systems this week).

Tales of the Abyss sold 74,173 units in its first week, beating out a number of new releases, including Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, ToHeart2 Dungeon Travelers and Goldeneye 007.

For the PS3 version of SFIV Arcade Edition, the retail release was the only way for PS3 owners to obtain the title. A download release had been scheduled for earlier in the month, but was delayed due to the PlayStation Store outage, which was just cleared up yesterday.

Other newcomers this week included Test Drive Unlimited 2, Power Smash 4, Kaidan Restaurant Zoku! New Menu 100 and Moujuuzukai to Oujisama Portable.
