Domestic Online Games Market Sees Increases in 2010

Japan Online Game Association also begins tracking social games.

The Japan Online Game Association (JOGA) announced year 2010 online game market statistics yesterday, revealing slight growth in online games for the year.

In 2010, the Japanese online games market did 132.9 billion yen of business. This was up 3% from the year prior. The figure splits 29.4 billion yen for package software sales and 103.5 billion yen for online game operation.

Separate from the online games figure, social games did 235.5 billion yen, JOGA announced. This is the first time the association has tracked social games.
