Suda 51's Sdatcher Character Art and Cast
Metal Gear Solid actors to feature in radio drama. Plus, Level-5 CEO suggests another project to Kojima.
Hideo Kojima is once again tapping into the Metal Gear Solid family of voice actors for an upcoming project. Following the Japanese localization of Castlevania Lord of Shadows, the voice actors of Solid Snake and other popular Metal Gear characters will lend their talents to Suda 51's Sdatcher.
In case you missed the announcement last week, Suda 51's Sdatcher is a radio drama based around Kojima's classic adventure game Snatcher. Grasshopper Manufacturer's Suda 51 and Akira Yamaoka are working with Kojima on the project. You'll find more details here.
Late yesterday, Kojima Productions announced that the voice cast will include the following voice actors (listed here with their Metal Gear Solid characters, not the roles they play in Sdatcher):
- Akio Ootsuka (Solid Snake)
- Kikuko Inoue (The Boss, Sunny)
- Houchuu Ootsuka (Galvez)
- Yumi Kikuchi (Strange Love, Mei Ling)
- Tomokazu Sugita (Miller)
- Tetsuya Yanagihara (from comedy group America Zarigani)
- Takehito Koyasu
Kojima and Suda 51 will also have cameo appearances.
Here's the cast during the first recording session:
Kojima and friends have been Tweeting about the radio drama of late. Kojima revealed that the drama will actually be a series of drama episodes rather than just one. He also praised Yamaoka's musical contribution to the drama, calling Yamaoka a genius.
Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino asked Kojima if Sdatcher will be a Suda 51 parody of Snatcher. Kojima responded that it's an original radio drama from Suda 51 that's based off the world of Snatcher. Hino replied that he'd like to make "Police-hino-auts" (this combines Policenauts, Kojima's other adventure game, with Hino's name -- the wordplay works better in Japanese).
Finally, a Tweet showing a character from Sdatcher. This was illustrated by character designer Satoshi Yoshioka, a freelance illustrator who worked on the PC Engine Snatcher.
